Concerning the Kingsguard Empty

The Kinsguard of Barbarus has been and always will be an exalted order of men pledged with the defense of the King of Barbarus. By Tradition there are only seven of these fabled warriors. In troubled times they lead the kings armies, speak with the kings voice and offer their lives before danger gets the chance to harm the King. By practicality the Kingsguard are invariably the most deadly and competent of fighters and swordsmen

The Kingsguard do not wear any other color than white, except at the Kings own command. Their armor, is white enambled with silver and white gold. Even their swords have a white sheen about them thanks to an alchemical secret long held by the Kings alone. Only the most skilled, trustworthy and honorable men are named to the position of Kingsguard. Many of the Kingsguard carry fame and are revered as heroes and demigods in most cases

Before Isidore D'Aiglemort however, the Kingsguard has been a custom that has remained unused for the better part of two centuries in favor for another type of Guard. The Casseline Brotherhood

In ancient scripture, there is a passage which mentions the Archangel Cassiel, who is called Protector of God. In the apocryphal tale, Cassiels sole purpose was the preservation of life that the Almigghy would deem worthy of saving. He defended Moses and parted the Red Sea, he was with Daniel in the Lions Den. His greatest task was the protection of the son of God, Jesus Christ. Cassiel served Christ unseen and unknwon, until the Lord commanded Cassiel stand aside and allow Christ to be crucified

Cassiel could not deny God's command and so watched his ward be taken and scourged, slaughtered and slain. In the very moment that Christ gave up the ghost, Cassiel fell from grace and turned his back on God. To earth he fell like a comet through the night sky. His coming was like a tsunami and when he finally landed he was found by a isolated Carolinian monastery. To this brave monks he imparted the wisdom of heaven and the arts of defense beyond anything yet known to mortal man

He imparted new commandants to these Carolinians and instructions, the essence of which remain a mystery. However, it is known now that the Casseline brothers are pledged to serve and defend their ward until death release them, or the Prelate of the Order reassigns them. Casselines carry two daggers, a two handed blade above their shoulders, and two vambraces. The extent of their training is so thorough and precise that with only those two daggers Cassilines have held off three to four armed and trained soliders at a time. The two handed blade they wear they are forbidden to draw unless it is their intent to kill. A Cassiline will only kill at the express command of their ward or if there is no visible way to prevent the ward from taking harm

A Cassiline Brother begins training at the age of ten years old, and does not stop training until they are assigned their first ward at twenty years old. All of their arts are centered around protection and defense of their ward. In training bouts it is not unusual to see a Cassiline square off against five or more opponents. With daggers, legs, arms head, vambraces they are trainined to be living shields and weapons to defend their ward

Isidore D'Aiglemort has called upon the service of two Cassiline Brothers to join the ranks of his Kingsguard. He was revived the ancient customs and filled six parts. The only post that remains unfilled at this time is the position of Lord Captain of the Kingsguard. Isidore has the two Cassilines in attendance with him at all times, silent reminders that he is both well protected and affluent enough to afford not one, but two of these peerless warriors

As a side note, the Church as a whole considers the Brotherhood a more militant extension of the Knights Templar and the Carolinians. While not ecstatic about the presence of the Order it is said that the Pope himself has a Cassiline attendant. Each member of the Casseline Brotherhood are also monks and priests and are given the power to baptize, marry, and preform the sacred rites of Catholic Church

They are warrior priests, mixing company with Knights and Lords in Isidores Kingsguard. The wisdom of mixing the dour Cassilines with the Knights of the Kingsguard has yet to be seen or verified
